Emtek's mission is to bring interesting, well made hardware back to American homes. Until about 1930 there was a proud history of hardware in America. Hundreds of small factories made an enormous variety of creative handles and knobs.. Craftsmen from many disciplines devoted their time and energy to making levers and knobs that provided functionality and beauty.

Unfortunately the depression caused many of these factories to fail. During World War II brass short in supply and door handle designs were reduced to the bare essentials. In recent years the emphasis on cheap high volume building products has discouraged manufacturers from re-introducing well made door hardware.

Ideas are changing, Americans are re-discovering the satisfaction that comes from owning quality manufactured products. Interior Door and Closet Company strives to provide an interesting range of levers and knobs that consumers can enjoy as elements of decor, not just as functional items.
